Gedling Borough Council

Gedling Borough Council

About the Council
Gedling Borough
Established in 1974, the Borough of Gedling is home to almost 112,000 people and covers an area of 46.3 sq. miles.

Set in the rolling Nottinghamshire countryside, it includes the towns of Arnold and Carlton and the surrounding parishes.

It borders Sherwood Forest to the north, the River Trent to the southeast and the City of Nottingham to the southwest.

Gedling Borough has much to offer both residents and visitors, from heritage to modern community facilities in addition to suburban settlements with excellent shopping and leisure facilities, tranquil villages and picturesque countryside

The vibrant city of Nottingham is within easy reach for shopping and nightlife.

The Borough is close to both the A1 and M1, while main line rail services and national bus routes are available in nearby Nottingham.

An excellent network of local buses also serves the area and the Robin Hood Railway has enhanced the north-south link within the county, particularly benefiting Newstead and the former coalfield area.
